Upstage Productions, Inc. announces our Fall show, "Footloose” to be performed this November!

Dust off those dancing shoes and kick off your Sunday shoes! Upstage Productions is thrilled to announce auditions for our Fall production of Footloose!
AUDITION DETAILS:
• Dates: Sunday July 26, 2026, at 2 p.m. and Monday July 27, 2026, at 6 p.m.
• Video Submission: if unable to audition at either of the above dates, you may submit a video. Prepare a 32-bar song and please ask for provided choreography. Please email your submission or any questions to: Footloose.Upstage@gmail.com
• Location: Creativity in Motion – 160 Fairview Ave., Suite 95, Hudson, NY 12534
• Callbacks: Will be Sunday August 2, 2026, Creativity in Motion at 2p.m.
• Performance Dates: Friday, November 20, 2026, Saturday, November 21, 2026, and Sunday November 22, 2026
WHAT TO PREPARE:
• SINGING: Please prepare an accompaniment of 32 bars of an 80’s pop-rock song or a musical theatre song in the style of the show. Bring a backing of your track as a speaker will be provided.
• DANCING: Everyone will learn a short dance combination. Please dress in comfortable clothing and NO FLIP-FLOPS OR OPEN-TOED SHOES. Jazz shoes, character shoes, or sneakers are appropriate.
• ACTING: You will be asked to read from selected scenes from the show.
• CONFLICTS: Bring your calendars with all known rehearsal conflicts.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
We are looking for actors, singers, and dancers of all experience levels, ranging from high-school age to adult.
• REN MCCORMACK: A teenage boy from Chicago. Outgoing, quick-witted and loves to dance. Strong dancer and vocalist (Tenor)
• ARIEL MOORE: The rebellious, smart and independent daughter of Reverend Moore. (Mezzo-Soprano Belt)
• REV. SHAW MOORE: The powerful stern, conservative strict spiritual leader of Bomont, but grieving. (Baritone)
• VI MOORE: Shaw’s supportive but conflicted wife. (Mezzo/Alto)
• WILLARD HEWITT: A simple country bumpkin with a warm heart who is Ren’s goofy best friend who struggles to dance until Ren teaches him. (Tenor/Baritone)
• CHUCK CRANSTON The local “bad boy” and Ariel’s rough boyfriend. (Tenor)
• ETHEL MCCORMACK: Ren’s resilient mother. (Mezzo)
• RUSTY: Ariel’s friend, a bit scatterbrained, sweet, fun, knows everything about everything. (Soprano/belt)
• URLEEN: Ariel’s friend; the smart one of the group (Mezzo/Alto)
• WENDY JO: Ariel’s friend; strong belt, comedic timing, and dance required. (Mezzo)
ENSEMBLE (CHORUS/ENSEMBLE): Males and Females. Townspeople, students, need strong character people (all ages) for many roles (listed below); teenage through adults; chorus singing, dancing parts; all teens dance, all adults dance at the prom.
